… just me

“A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.”
Proverbs 16:9
I’ve waited seasons,
through times of bitter cold
months of sweltering heat.
As the red-wings return,
the flight of Canadians
fly toward southern lands.
I’ve waited seasons,
through times of marketing
changes, changes, changes.
As publishers pick people,
writers with a popular standing
and social following, I waited.
I’ve waited seasons,
through long decades
of hibernation, like the bear.
But the season for Wolf
has come with self-publishing,
a “no one”, can be heard.

I wonder… maybe, in the end, there will be someone who listens… but there are many books that stay unread.

If you don’t shout about it, the publishing establishment won’t do it for you. Good luck with the publication!

It’s wonderful when the Wolf sees her steps ordered by the Lord! What peace, and what hope! May the sweetness of the Lord be upon you, Kim!

Oh, I know this so well; having waited years and approached so many agents, I finally self-published my children’s novel in March/April, during the first lockdown – a pandemic baby. The lines that pricked my heart:
‘As publishers pick people,
writers with a popular standing
and social following, I waited’
and
‘But the season for Wolf
has come with self-publishing,
a “no one”, can be heard.’
Congratulations and good luck!

It’s a children’s novel, age 8-14, entitled Joe and Nelly, set in WW2 London.
