Little did I know that just a week after my son’s August wedding, I would be spending my days visiting my husband in the hospital.
For the last several days, I have received photo after photo of memories from FB. At first, they were difficult to view. The decline of his health has been so slow over the years that I almost forgot the active lifestyle we once had. Now, I treasure what we were able to do.
God has a plan. Today, that means for doctors to discern what is needed. What I need is to keep my focus on God.

THE WOE OF DESPAIR
Waves of grief, life hitting upon the shore;
tumbling, rolling, at times roaring against
the edges of fragility, fatigue, and faith.
Slowly eroding the fullness life can bring.
Are not turse torrents part of the tale
of each of us as the circle of life lingers?
In tender times of weeping, we are not
in solitude, or separate from the Savior?
Yes, waves, of sorts, may pound emotions,
take hold of weakened minds at any moment.
But He who is greater than the world will
wash us with unthinkable peace and hope.
Grief will come, and it will go.

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
1 John 4:4

I Go
To the woods I go,
settling into thick moss
cushioned by forest floor,
surrounded by critters
and rustling leaves
which know a language
I long to learn.
The trees seem to know,
emotions of great loss,
opening a new door
where life is less littered;
tears shed, a place to grieve,
and my corner of courage
finding the peace I yearn.

“The painted turtle (Chrysemys picta) is North America’s most widespread native turtle. Recognized by its smooth, dark shell with red and yellow markings and striped legs, this medium-sized aquatic reptile grows 4 to 10 inches long and is famous for basking in groups on sunny logs.”
PAINTER PAL
A home and armor all in one,
crawling, stalling on your run;
basking in the noonday sun.
And when day is finally done,
you crawl into a shell for one;
secluded like a cloistered nun.
My painter pal, it’s been fun,
I shell love you like a son;
being turtley part of my pun.
P. Wolf
Another wonderful creation from God.

I have several milkweed plants in my garden, which have let me harvest five caterpillars, watch them turn into chrysalises, and finally see them emerge as butterflies. It was a fun experience.
In my I Am the Light series a poem is included which is more of a prayer that the characters often refer to as they struggle with the trials of life.
Butterflies intrigue me. Thank you, God, for butterflies.
